Week Ten
Co Design

Monday

Because this week is focused on the Co design workshop I have allocated my time this week to making sure I have everything prepared

this means focusing on renders, floor plans etc

what is needed:

Set of printed design documentation drawings (A3 minimum): storyboard of key perspectives, detailed site plan, floor plans, sections, elevations. Also include a couple of pages of key process work which relate to your final design concept

I started to layout and prepare my layout

1. Hero

2. Abstract

3, Process Work

4. Storyboard

5. " "

6. " "

7. " "

8. " "

Over the weekend I started to refine my model, where I had finalised the intial programme through trail and error

I decided to focus the top level on artist facalities, such as workshops, studio layout, and communal area for collabration

The second floor is communal working area, individual desks, meeting rooms, and lounge area

The first floor remains the public laneway and bar/cafe

This programmme allows for me to section off the layout of my design, where each floor is deticated to a princple of my design. where all levels are availible to all

Modelling

I started to think of key moments in my design to capture for renders, and how these might translate the aspect of my design

I decided on a bar layout that sectioned off different areas of seating allowing for a flow when walking through the space

- flow for communters

- flow for stayers

thinking about how I can make the functionality of the design sutable for all people

I had a lot of trouble with my renders, none of the lighting was working in my scenes, so I had to take all my rendered perspectives from my rendered view in grasshopper

I was really upset with this as the colours werent as vibrant as I wanted and I felt so unhappy with the colour, I felt my design concept wasnt fully being translated so I have to rely on my explantion to get my ideas across

I tried to turn the saturation up to make the glass interior more prominent but it made the scenes works as the transparency was so elevated

I was using vray in this process as I wanted vray to be able to make render axometric drawings, where this process is much harder in blender

because of this experience with the difficulty and failing of lighting in my scenes I feel I will switch to blender moving foward, but for the co design workshop this will have to do

Floor Plans & Sections

after doing my renders I started to develop my floor plans, because there is so many sections within my designs where I want to make these floor plans soley line drawings, this will allow my designs to be clearly communicated and present when talking about my design

adding labels to my final floor plans, scale in order to clearly indicate what each section is

When generating a long section I started to have trouble as their were so many lines within my design,

I started to think how I could clarify my design more and the interconnectivity of my design,

The black lines made my design hard to visualise, I think started to think if colour the lines accordingly to the glass feature, this allowed for some clarity in the sections, I wanted to push further but due to the deadline of the co design workshop I left this as is, where I know I can come back

after editing my renders, floor plans, and sections I feel that I have all the documentation prepared for co design work shop where my next step is to gather my earlier weeks process work that enforced the thinking behind my design

This includes my kalidescope device site sequences and my image layering exploration

Slowly I have been putting all my elements together and now need to mock up what Im gonna say while presenting

Co Design Workshop

This workshop was so helpful I had such helpful feedback from Anna

- make the colourfield more defined (renders fault) making sure that the glass facade becomes the main aspect in my renders, as it is the key focual point of my desigh

- more netural tones for funturie and interior, don't take away from the colour filed, play with different aspects of the colourfiled, the pattern and how I could push it more, and how the materials I choosen complient my design. Anna said that my design was clear, and activates  the space of imperial lane, she told me to maybe play with some of the programming and layout a bit more, just to refine spacing and choose the more desired outcome from this experimentation.

This feedback has made me look at my design at a different perspective and how I can expand from what I have currently produced.

Going forward this feedback will be very helpful in determining my key design and how I should step more into my final project,

over the weekend I am going to take on these comments and translate them into my modelling, then next monday get feedback from Sue
