Week Eleven

Discussion with Sue

after the Co design workshop I took the weekend to clear my head so I was ready to work the next week, I talked to Sue about Annas comments and she agreed

my plans for moving ahead was to edit my layout and programming,

edit materials im working with sticking with natural timber and whites

Sue then started to look at my renders and we started to collabrate on ways we could improve my layering

she suggested I think of the space in 'Grids' thinking how to layout the space so everything lines up she was

specfically talking about my Ground Floor layour

I asked Sue about my queries of if we had to keep the ramp to jeffersons in our design her answer was yes 100%, unless you have a really good reason to why you are removing it, I didnt have a reason at all so I had to find a way to work the ramp in,

Sue suggested the ramp cuts through the glass colour field, where this developed into a experimentation of thinking about how I could develop stairs that go through the glass colour field this would then free up a lot of space no having the central stair case.

Sue also suggested I go back to site and go to the 'Lieutenant Cafe' in Commerial bay, suggested I take inspiration from their seating steps to activate the space I have going towards the bar

so thats what I did exactly....

going back to site, and drawing, trying to look at the materiality of the space rather than the realness, taking note of deatils

Lieutenant Cafe, in Commerial bay

I was really interested by the design of this stair well and how it was activated through people using it as seating and there were also mini tables made to fir the different sizes of stairs

I agreed with sue and wanted to find a way I could take inspiration from this design and use it to activate the public laneway of my design, how I could create a space that makes people stay and invites in the community

I was really happy with this design and felt that by adding this step/seating to the public laneway to allowed for me to include the ramp so that my design is still wheel chair accessible,

this makes me design follow my key princibles as a 'space for all'

Designing a logo

I decided to design a logo so I would be able to add onto the front of my Queen Street Facade to allow for people to understand what the walkway leads to

I decided on Welcomed as that is the princible behind my design, welcoming in the surronding communities becoming a 'space for all' adding this onto my Queen Street Facade will be a way to draw attention
